Your location choices

You can search for a place without sharing your device’s location. Choosing “Use my location” asks your browser for permission. You can change that permission in your browser’s site settings. If you have not chosen a location, the weather home page may use an approximate location supplied by your internet connection.

Location searches and map views send location information needed to return weather or map content. Check a link before sharing it: map links can contain coordinates and a place name.

Choices remembered by this browser

Cookies connect this browser to saved weather locations and preferences. A home location may also be saved to your account when you are signed in. Recent searches and some preparedness drafts are stored on this device. On a shared device, other people using the same browser may be able to see those choices.

Remove saved locations you no longer want before clearing cookies. Clearing browser data can remove access to saved choices; it does not by itself confirm that stored records have been deleted.

Before sharing information

Do not include medical information, emergency dispatch details or someone else’s private address in a public weather report or shared link. Public weather information is separate from agency operational tools.
